A Beacon on the Oregon Coast

Heceta Head Lightstation

Known as the most photographed lighthouse in America, the Heceta Head Lighthouse is a landmark that has been shining its light since 1894. To get to this historical site, one must walk a scenic half-mile trail past the lighthouse keepers house and up to the panoramic viewpoint which makes for some spectacular whale and oregon coast bird watching. From May through Labor Day weekend in September, you will find docents at both the keepers house and lighthouse who can share the history as well as the charming Heceta Lighthouse Gift Shop at the midway point on the trail.
